Cereal

Apparently, no one likes my choice in cereal these days.

Tate said to me this morning, “By the way, Mom, no one likes the 8 boxes of Chex you bought.  Just because it’s on sale doesn’t mean we like it.”

He continues, “please stop buying hundreds of boxes of nastiness all at one time. When you go grocery shopping, if you think you will like it, then don’t buy it.  Because that is the stuff we (the kids) do not like.

Maybe I should do a little handholding here.  Like hold your hand so it doesn’t buy generic.  Please buy me Life Cinnamon cereal.  Not regular.  Cinnamon.  And Honey Nut Cheerios.  Yellow box.  People have had a hard time buying this in the past.  YELLOW box.  Not blue.  YELLOW.  No nasty knockoffs.

And when it comes to Honey Bunches of Oats, it is HONEY BUNCHES OF OATS, not Bunches of Honey Oats, not Honey Crunchy Oats, just plain Honey Bunches of Oats.  No knockoffs.  Blue box. Okay?”

Being Nice to Others

I ask the kids every night, "do you feel happy and loved?", "what was the best part of your day?", and "what did you do nice for someone else today?".

I usually get awesome answers. It differs every night. But tonight's answer from Garett was typical Garett.

Me: Happy and loved?

Garett: Yes.

Me: What was the best part of your day?

Garett: Basketball.

Me: What did you do nice for someone today?

Garett: I solved a dispute.

Me: Really? That's great. What was the dispute?

Garett: John and Casey were arguing about who was faster.

Me: How did you solve it?

Garett: I raced them. And won.
