Threats

I was typing on the computer and Marissa decided to attach her arms to my arms (while I'm typing) so that I'll stop typing and get her a snack. She realized this was not working to sufficiently distract me. So she finally said, "Well, if you don't get me a snack I'll fart right here." Am I raising a lady or what?

Pony Ride

Marissa wanted a pony ride for her birthday. She has developed this love of horses over the last year, so it seemed perfect to actually take her to some stables on her birthday. She got to groom and ride and was totally in her glory.

I took Marissa shopping for her birthday. It was fun until it took too long to check out. She decided to entertain herself with my camera. So, this is what it looks like to be shopping with Mom from a 5 year old point of view!

Marissa was sooooo excited to take pink Princess cupcakes to preschool for her birthday. Her eyes did not cooperate with the picture, but her smile did!

I went to the Country Living Fair with two friends, Jen and Cathy, in Columbus, Ohio. It was really fun and I loved the little stacked boxes in the back of this picture and want to try to make them!

Smiles

Marissa got to take cupcakes to preschool today. She was super proud of her pink Princess cupcakes. She got to pass them out to all her friends and then they sang "Happy Birthday" to her. She said to me when she got home, "When they sang to me, I tried not to smile but my feeling in my heart was just too happy that I had to smile!"

Spelling

I was talking to Garett about how I was so proud of him for being such a good sport with school given that his brother is older and can do a few more things than he can. He said he was working hard in school, but that he wished he could spell chimney like Tate.

Etiquette from your Mother

We were eating dinner the other night and Tate took an enormous bite right before the prayer was about to be said. I presume it was so that he would have something to do while the prayer was being said. I was a little miffed at his lack of etiquette. So this was my advice on the fly on etiquette, "Don't shove food in your mouth until after the prayer!"

What are you good for?

Marissa was snuggled in my lap and we were talking about all the things I loved about her. Then, she said, "You know what I love about you, Mom?" My mind was whirling with all the reasons she might love me. Then she said, "You can reach high things for me." Well, I'm good for at least that, huh? :)

Don't Cry over Spilled Milk

I grabbed the milk out of the refrigerator to take a quick drink before heading back up to the classroom for school. It was the last cup of milk in the jug so I was just going to drink it from the jug. I was in such a hurry that I poured the milk all over my face and into my hair. It burnt my nose! I have to say, the new milk jugs from Costco have huge openings. I hate the new jugs. It may, however, be a sign that I need to slow down a bit.

Oh, and I have been looking everywhere for our cheese slices for the kids sandwiches. We use these slices everyday as our peanut butter alternative. I had put it in the freezer!
